The experience was akin to a religious gathering. For example, when Juniper digressed into characterising brexiteers as lunatics risking catastrophe (there are many impending catastrophes in Juniper’s head) the applause was loud and instant. The fact that for many years his career relied on EU taxpayer money to fund his job, and therefore lifestyle, was neither here nor there. Happily a brave soul in the Q&A disagreed with him on the EU and got almost as much applause from shy-Leavers thankful at last that somebody had said something.
